Who's Cruising in 2014? I am!

Well I can breath a sigh of relief because I'm officially booked for the 2014 BSB cruise and I couldn't be more excited!! This year I'll be cruising with 2 new gals. Quite bittersweet for me as I'll miss my old roommates dearly, but I'm super excited to room with 2 of my other great friends. I'll be on deck 6, cabin U299 and I'm doing late dining. Come say hi!

For anyone curious, my reservation number is 83340, which in some miraculous turn of events is actually the lowest number I've seen so far. Though I'm sure there are better numbers, just haven't come across any.

So now that the booking is done, time for the fun part. Getting excited for the cruise!! That means planning pre and post-cruise trips, door decorations, theme nights and more. I'm so excited!!

Can't wait to see everyone on board and good look those those booking tomorrow during the public sale.

So who else was able to book and what's your cabin number?!

  1. Hi Laura! I've been following your blog for the last month because I will be a first time cruiser! Does early / late dining make a difference ? I chose early but I think I might want to change it to late. Not sure though. :\ What is your recommendation?

    1. Hey Nikki! Great to hear from you :D
No- early/late dining doesnt make a difference. Everyone will get to experience all of the events, just at a different time. Its really a matter of personal preference. I personally do late, simply because I like to eat later and have more time to get ready before dinner. No right or wrong though!

  2. Laura! I didn't get to see you at all on the last cruise, which bummed me out... But I decided, last minute, to go again in 2014 (this is dangerous, I'm hooked...) -- my BSB friend who has never gone wanted to go, and how could I say no? So, we have late dining too and I'd love to see you! I don't think I've seen you since the NKOTBSB softball game in Hershey!! :)

    1. Hey Michelle!! Great to hear from you. The last cruise was crazy hectic, but we won't let that happen again! We'll def have to arrange to meet up once the cruise gets closer! But I'm so happy you decided to go again, its so true that they're addicting ;)

  6. Hi! I just booked my first bsb cruise. I'm so excited I've been wanting to go since 2012. I'm a little nervous though. This is my first time traveling alone lol. What's the cruise like?

    1. Thats so exciting!!! Don't worry about traveling alone, there are so many nice girls on board and a lot of other girls in your situation as well.
The cruise is absolutely amazing!!! Obviously or I wouldnt have this entire blog dedicated to it haha ;) Id say its a BSB marathon. You'll have such an amazing time- lots of unforgettable BSB moments and hopefully you'll also make some life-long friends :)

  8. Maybe a strange question, but are there many guys on this ship. My wife wants to go and don't know if I should book this trip with the intent of myself going or finding someone else to go with her. I'd ask her but want it to be a birthday surprise. Thanks!

    1. Not a weird question at all. There are in fact other men who go, not a whole lot though. But there are certainly some other loving boyfriends and husbands who attend. This cruise is obviously a lot more money than a regular cruise- you're paying for all of the backstreet boy entertainment. If you're willing to go in open minded, be a good sport, attend the deck parties, concerts, etc... and more or less put up with crazy girls for 3 days- i'd say go for it.
If you don't intend to participate in the Backstreet events with your wife, then I'd almost recommend finding someone else for her to go with. In my opinion it'd be a waste of money, and there's not a whole lot for you to do outside of the BSB events. The casino & pool would be open. But most of the typical events you'd find on a regular cruise are not available.
For me personally- Ive been with my boyfriend 7 years and I leave him at home. I know he wouldnt enjoy himself and thus I wouldnt enjoy myself. For me, its a girls weekend.
Hope that helps and I'll just say that you have a very lucky wife for you to look into this trip for her!

    2. Thanks Laura for getting back to me so quickly. You make some good points! She's obsessed... and it's her 30th birthday this year so I figured its the least I could do! Thanks again!

P.S. I'm Anonymous in case my wife reads this!!!

    3. No problem- happy to help! Hope it all works out. I'm sure she'll love your gesture whether you go with her or not :D

    4. I got 1 more opinion for you from my friend, Anne Marie. Again- hope this helps you make your decision!

"I think it depends on the type of fan girl she is. If she's the type to go to 1-2 concerts and be content, I think you should go too. You'd be able to enjoy all the events together and will probably be standing towards the back of the crowds. However, if she goes to numerous concerts and other events and tries to always have the best seats, she's probably going to want to be up close for all the cruise events, which means putting in some time waiting for the events to start. So at that point it's your choice if that's something you wouldn't mind doing. You can try consulting her BSB friends to see what they think. If she doesn't have any, then you should go with her.

It seems like more and more guys go on the cruise each time. You certainly won't be the only guy but there aren't a lot of guys. Most of them tend to stick with their significant others. Also, you could always hang out in the casino if you need a break from BSB."

    5. That's great! Thanks.

One more thing - the rooms with the reserved seating (first six rows) - is that worth it? Or are all the seats pretty good?

      Sorry to be a bother.

      Thanks again.

    6. Not a bother at all!

In my opinion its not worth it. We're talking about almost an extra $1000 for those cabins. Historically they've only had 2 events in the main lounge- the rest are on the pool deck, atrium, beach, etc. All of which are general admission. Id probably be more inclined to splurge if the majority of the events were in the lounge with assigned seats, but they aren't. I'd rather save the money, knowing there are other opportunities for me to be close. That said- I've also been fortunate to get decent seats in rows 7 or 8 without having to pay for it.

To play devils advocate- I do have friends who've been in the back of the lounge and will now only do the cabins with reserved seating. They do feel its worth it.

  12. Hi laura!!! I've reading your blog for a few months and find it very helpful. I just made reservations for a myself and a friend for the 2014 cruise. What is the range of reservation numbers? Mine is 88136, which seems really high. Am I doomed to the back?

    1. Hey! Thats great, so glad you find my blog helpful and even more glad you decided to book the cruise! :) I think the numbers start around 83340....but don't fret. The reservation numbers are across all of Rose Tours cruises, not just the BSB ones. And I know when it was booking time a lot of people went through the process to make a reservation and cancelled, thus their reservation number is moot. And you theoretically should divide everything in 2 because you figure half the people in front of you have the other dining group. So its hard to say where you'll be.

My policy on the numbers is that the seating is beyond any of our control (unless of course you got a nicer cabin with reserved seating) so try not to worry about it too much. The important thing is that you'll be on the ship and there are PLENTY of other opportunities to see them up close and personal on board, should you end up with a less than awesome seat. Last year i was close, but there was a huge pole in front of me. Its just such a crap shoot with those seats haha

Id highly recommend going and I think its great if you're traveling alone because then you'll have the opportunity to meet a lot of new friends! When you book you room, you may want to consider doing the roommate match program.

What can we expect? Have read loads of reviews and seen alot of videos and it looks awesome!!! And of course we LOVE the boys :-) quick question and probs a silly 1 but do u hav to decorate ur door? Will we look daft if we dont? Thanks :-) x

    1. Hey Mary!! That's super exciting you're able to come this year for your first cruise :D And even nice you're able to go with your sister.
What can you expect? You can expect to have an unforgettable time with your sister and make some awesome memories!! You'll get to experience a ton of unique backstreet events that you can't get anywhere else...and hopefully you'll meet some great new people along the way. My biggest advice as a first time cruiser, as you may have read elsewhere in my blog, just keep your expectations reasonable. There's a lot of other girls on the ship and only 5 guys. Just go in expecting whats on the itinerary and everything else will be a bonus :D
And not a silly question at all...you definitely don't have to decorate your door if you dont want to! Its totally up to you. People do a wide variety of things. Some people go all out; some just throw up a couple of pictures; and some do nothing. You will fit in no matter which way you decide. I personally do it because I enjoy it :)
Feel free to email me if you want to chat more or have any other questions. Otherwise hopefully Ill see you on board!!!
